Add Boba Network to Metamask in 2023 [Power Up Your Wallet]

“Yo, have you ever been like ‘damn, I wanna add this sweet DeFi network to my Metamask Wallet, but have NO IDEA how to do it?!

Same, fam. But fear not, adding Boba Network to Metamask is easier than you think.

Here is what you’ll learn:

1. A 5 Simple and DETAILED Step-by-Step Process for Adding Boba Network to Metamask on your browser and mobile.

2. How to Bridge to BOBA Network

3. + Lots MORE!

Let’s DO IT!

Boba Network (not BOBA FETT!) is an Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution.

It uses Hybrid Compute technology, which enhances smart contracts and dApps by allowing them to leverage the power of Web2 and bring complex algorithms on-chain.

It is used in conjunction with Optimistic Rollup technology, which drastically cuts fees (up to 100x) and allows for nearly infinite scalability.

To enjoy Boba Network, you must have a web3 wallet like Metamask. Metamask is a leading Web3 wallet that lets users connect with decentralized apps (dApps) on the Ethereum Blockchain. It’s both a browser extension and a mobile app (iOS and Android).

How to Add BOBA Network to Metamask?

Adding Boba Network to Metamask is easier than you think.

Here’s our quick 5-Step Process:

STEP 1.  Unlock your Metamask Wallet

STEP 2. Click on the Network Dropdown Box

STEP 3. Click The Add Network Button

STEP 4. Click on “Add a Network Manually”

STEP 5.  Input BOBA RPC Custom Details and “Save”

Note: You can also add the network automatically, keep reading to know how!

Sinple isn’t it?

1. How to Add BOBA L2 to Metamask

Boba Protocol is an interoperable, EVM-compatible network. That means Solidity developers and their dApps can benefit from the scalability and security of the Boba Network.

As a result, it can be easily added to Metamask.

To connect to the Boba Network via Metamask you need the right custom RPC points: network name, New RPC URL, Chain ID, and Currency symbol.

NOTE: If you haven’t installed Metamask on your browser or mobile devices please head to the Metamask official website, download the application and create a wallet. Always keep your recovery phrase in a safe place.

Whenever you are ready, Follow these steps to add BOBA

STEP 1: Unlock your Metamask Wallet

The first step is to unlock your Metamask Wallet extension or mobile Android/iOS device. Click the browser extension (or mobile app) and enter your secure password in the box.

Unlock Metamask Wallet

STEP 2: Click on the Network Dropdown Box

When you unlock your wallet, you’ll see the name of your default network as well as a dropdown arrow. Click that option to see a list of all your available networks.

Network Dropdown Box

Note: On mobile devices, select the hamburger menu.

STEP 3: Click Add Network Button

At the bottom of your list of available networks, you’ll see an Add Network Button. Hit this button (DON’T Break your Keyword!) to add a new network to Metamask.

Network Dropdown Menu )

Note: On mobile devices, go to Settings and Select Networks

STEP 4: Click on “Add a Network Manually”

Following that, you’ll see a screen with the option to automatically add other networks. Unfortunately, Boba Network is not on that list. So, we will need to add it manually.

Add a Network Manually

Click on [Add a Network Manually]

Note: On mobile devices, Click on “Add Network.”

STEP 5: Input BOBA RPC Custom Details and Save

The final step is to input the RPC network details. RPC (remote procedure call) is a URL that allows you to connect to a server node (for example, the BOBA server) and interact with that Blockchain.

There are two kinds of BOBA networks. The production or real network, known as Boba Network (Mainnet), and the Boba testing network, known as Boba Tesnet.

If you are not a developer that wants to test their dApps before implementing them on the “real” blockchain, you can disregard the BOBA Tesnet information.

Note: On mobile devices switch to custom networks and fill up the RPC Custom Details. Then, click “Add.”

Fill in:

Boba Network

  • BOBA Mainnet Info:
  • Network name: Boba Network
  • New RPC URL: https://mainnet.boba.network
  • Chain ID: 288
  • Currency symbol: ETH
  • Block explorer URL(Optional): https://bobascan.com

Adding Boba Blockchain Explorer is optional, but it is always a good idea to fill out all of the information and know where to verify all BOBA blockchain transactions.

BOBA Testnet Info:

Boba Testnet

  • Network name: Boba Network Goerli Testnet
  • New RPC URL: https://goerli.boba.network
  • Chain ID: 2888
  • Currency symbol: ETH
  • Block explorer URL(Optional): https://testnet.bobascan.com
Note: Due to the protocol changes of Ethereum: Rinkeby, Ropsten, and Kovan test networks have been deprecated and will be sunset soon.
Check our How to add Rinkeby Testnet to Metamask [Updated 2023] to understand more.

After you input all the details, just click “Save” and Voilá!, your default network (E.g., Ethereum Mainnet) will be switched automatically to the BOBA Network.

Now you are ready to interact with the BOBA Blockchain Platform!

Note: Alternatively, you can add the Boba Network automatically to your Metamask by connecting your on ChainList.org (select Boba Network or Boba Network Goerli Testnet) or the official Boba Network website and confirming the network switch.

2. Conclusion

Adding Boba Network to Metamask is easier than you think.

The Boba Network is an L2 Ethereum scaling & augmenting solution that allows using the power of Web2 to execute complex algorithms on-chain fast. It offers great yield farming, staking, and liquidity provision opportunities for those willing to support the protocol.

In this guide, we learned how to add Boba Network to Metamask Wallet.

Here’s a quick reminder

  • Step 1: Unlock your Metamask Wallet
  • Step 2: Click on the Network Dropdown Box
  • Step 3: Click The Add Network Button
  • Step 4: Click on “Add a Network Manually”
  • Step 5: Input BOBA Network RPC Custom Details and “Save”

We hope you enjoyed this guide! Check our FAQs if you would like to know more!

3. FAQs

Does Boba Network have a token?

Yes. The Boba Network uses a native token called BOBA to pay for transaction fees, participate in governance decisions (Boba DAO) and offer interest through DeFi staking yield farming and liquidity provisions.

You can trade the BOBA Token on leading centralized exchanges (CEX) like MEXC, Gate.io (NON-US), or Kucoin (NON-US). If you prefer to use a decentralized exchange (DEX), Uniswap and OolongSwap both support the Boba Token.

OMG is an ERC-20 token built on Ethereum. To bridge OMG Tokens to Boba Network follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you have OMG on your Metamask Wallet
  2. Go to the Boba Ethereum Bridge (https://gateway.boba.network/bridge)
  3. Connect your Wallet
  4. Select Token (Input OMG)
  5. Select Amount
  6. Click on [Bridge]
  7. Confirm Spend Amount
  8. Approve Transaction in Metamask
  9. Wait for the transaction to complete
