The Kava Network is an emerging DeFi project built on the interoperable Tendermint Core (Cosmos Co-Chain) consensus engine. It is enhanced with Ethereum’s (Ethereum Co-Chain) flexibility and speed.
It is essentially a decentralized loan and borrowing platform that allows users to deposit and borrow a wide range of assets such as cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and other digital assets.
If you are wondering how to add Kava Network to Metamask. This guide is for you!
How to Add KAVA to Metamask?
Adding Kava to Metamask is easier than you think. Here’s our quick 5-Step Process:
STEP 1. Unlock your Metamask Wallet
STEP 2. Click on the Network Dropdown Box
STEP 3. Click The Add Network Button
STEP 4. Click on “Add a Network Manually”
STEP 5. Input KAVA RPC Custom Details and “Save”
Sinple isn’t it?
If you want a DETAILED, step-by-step guide here’s what we’ll cover:
1. How to Add Kava Network to Metamask
Kava protocol is an interoperable (Cosmos SDK) and EVM-compatible network. That means Solidity developers and their dApps can benefit from the scalability and security of the Kava Network.
As a result, it can be easily added to Metamask.
To connect to the KAVA Network via Metamask you need the right custom RPC points: network name, New RPC URL, Chain ID, and Currency symbol.
NOTE: If you haven’t installed Metamask on your browser or mobile devices please head to the Metamask official website, download the application and create a crypto wallet. Always keep your recovery phrase in a safe place.
Follow these steps to add KAVA whenever you are ready!
STEP 1: Unlock your Metamask Wallet
The first step is to unlock your Metamask Wallet extension or mobile Android/iOS device. Click the browser extension (or mobile app) and enter your secure password in the box.
STEP 2: Click on the Network Dropdown Box
When you unlock your wallet, you’ll see the name of your default network as well as a dropdown arrow. Click that option to see a list of all your available networks
Note: On mobile devices, select the hamburger menu.
STEP 3: Click Add Network Button
At the bottom of your list of available networks, you’ll see an Add Network Button. Hit this button (DON’T Break your Keyword!) to add a new network to Metamask.
Note: On mobile devices, go to Settings and Select Networks
STEP 4: Click on “Add a Network Manually”
Following that, you’ll see a screen with the option to automatically add other networks. Unfortunately, KAVA EVM Mainnet is not on that list. So, we will need to add it manually.
Click on [Add the Network Manually]
Note: On mobile devices, Click on “Add Network.”
STEP 5: Input KAVA RPC Custom Details and Save
The final step is to input the RPC custom details. RPC (remote procedure call) is a URL that allows you to connect to a server node (for example, the KAVA server) and interact with that Blockchain.
There are two kinds of KAVA networks. The production or real network, known as Kava EVM (Mainnet), and the KAVA testing network, known as Kava EVM Tesnet.
If you are not a developer that wants to test your dApps before implementing them on the “real” blockchain, you can disregard the KAVA Tesnet information.
Note: On mobile devices switch to custom networks and fill up the RPC Network Details. Then, click “Add.”
Fill in:
KAVA Mainnet Info:
- Network name: Kava EVM
- New RPC URL: https://evm.kava.io
- Chain ID: 2222
- Currency symbol: KAVA
- Block explorer URL(Optional): https://explorer.kava.io
Adding KAVA Blockchain Explorer is optional, but it is always a good idea to fill out all of the information and know where to verify all KAVA blockchain transactions.
KAVA Testnet Info:
- Network name: KAVA EVM Testnet
- New RPC URL: https://evm.testnet.kava.io
- Chain ID: 2221
- Currency symbol: TKAVA
- Block explorer URL(Optional): https://explorer.testnet.kava.io
After you input all the details, just click “Save” and Voilá!, your default network (E.g., Ethereum Mainnet) will be switched automatically to the KAVA Network.
Now you are ready to interact with the KAVA Blockchain Platform!
2. How Do I Get Kava on Metamask?
This is the million-dollar question that Reddit users (see below) and the rest of us are asking.
Unfortunately, you cannot get KAVA directly on Metamask.
After connecting to the KAVA EVM Network, you will need KAVA EVM tokens (wKava) to pay for gas fees and execute smart contracts on Ethereum-compatible dApps.
Here is the best way to get kava on Metamask:
The easiest way is to get KAVA on a centralized exchange* like Binance (NON-US), MEXC, and ByBit. If you haven’t bought it yet, you will need to buy USDT first and then exchange it for KAVA Coin.
Then, withdraw your KAVA Native Coins and deposit them on the official Kava Swap website. When your coins arrive, you can exchange them for wKAVA (Kava EVM).
Easy, RIGHT? This may appear a bit confusing at first, but it is simple if you follow along!
*NOTE 1: These exchanges (for now) only support the KAVA Native (Cosmos) network instead of the KAVA EVM (the one you have added to Metamask).
NOTE 2: Do not forget to always keep your coins safe in a Kava-compatible hardware wallet like Ledger Nano X and Trezor.

How to bridge to Kava EVM?
If you want to send your ERC-20 tokens between Ethereum and Kava (Kava EVM Co-Chain) you will need to use a bridge. The best Kava EVM bridge is Celer Bridge.
Simply connect your wallet to the bridge service, pick the token to be transferred, enter the amount and destination address, and confirm the transaction.
