Add Network to Metamask Automatically [In ONE CLICK]

Tired of manually addin’ networks to Metamask? I gotcha covered, dawg.

Today, I’ll show you exactly (In 5 DETAILED Steps) how to add a network to Metamask automatically, like a boss. I’m talking TWO ways, not just one.

Here is what you’ll learn:

1. A 5 Simple and DETAILED Step-by-Step Process for Adding any network to Metamask automatically using ChainList.

2. A second way to add a network automatically using TokenMagic

3. + Lots MORE!

Let’s do this, capiche?

The first network I added to Metamask automatically (since then I was doing everything manually) was the Polygon Network. I wanted to invest in the promising Play-to-Earn game Nakamoto Games (NAKA) (Click on the link to Check them Out!).

Metamask is a leading Web3 wallet that lets users connect with decentralized apps (dApps) on the Ethereum Blockchain. It’s both a browser extension and a mobile app (iOS and Android).

Adding networks to Metamask is one of the first things any crypto beginner should learn. In this guide, I will show you how to add a network to Metamask automatically. In Just ONE CLICK. In TWO Different Ways. Let’s DO IT!

How to Add Network to Metamask Automatically

I particularly use two different ways. Here’s the one I use the most:

STEP 1.  Go to ChainList.org

STEP 2. Search for “Network”

STEP 3. Click on “Connect Wallet”

STEP 4. Unlock Metamask Wallet

STEP 5. Approve & Switch Network

Sinple isn’t it?

If you want a DETAILED, step-by-step guide as well as discover the second method I use. Here’s what we’ll cover:

  1. How to add Network to Metamask in 5 DETAILED Steps
    1. Method 1: Via ChainList
    2. Method 2: Via TokenMagic
  2. Conclusion
  3. FAQs
    1. How do I bridge between MetaMask Networks?
    2. How do I change the default network in Metamask?
    3. Can MetaMask swap between networks?

1. Add A Network to Metamask Automatically

Metamask is an Ethereum crypto wallet. That means only Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible networks can be added to MetaMask.

This is because only the blockchains that use the same programming language (Solidity), and similar infrastructure, are compatible with MetaMask.

In other words, you cannot run iOS applications on an Android device (and vice versa).

To connect to any Blockchain Network via Metamask, you need the right network details or RPC points: network name, New RPC URL, Chain ID, and Currency symbol.

Here are two applications I use to populate that info automatically:

  • Method 1: ChainList
  • Method 2: TokenMagic

Before We start, ensure that:

  • You have a computer or mobile device with an internet connection
  • You have Metamask Installed on a supporting web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge) or mobile device (iOS or Android).
  • Understand Crypto 101, in particular, DeFi
NOTE: If you haven’t installed Metamask crypto wallet on your browser or mobile devices please head to the Metamask official website, download the application and create a wallet. Always keep your recovery phrase in a safe place.

Pick a method from the tab to automatically add networks to Metamask and start interacting with dApps and smart contracts!

How to add a Network Using ChainList

ChainList helps users in automatically connecting to EVM-compatible networks automatically. The application was built by the same team behind the popular DeFi website, called DeFiLlama

The website validates the server information (RPC information) and provides the most comprehensive list of EVM Chains.

To use ChainList follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Go to ChainList.org

The first thing we need to do is go to the ChainList official website. Before connecting to any site ensure that the URL is correct.

STEP 2: Search for “Network”

In the upper right-hand corner, you will see a Search Networks box. Input the network you would like to add (E.g., Oasis) to display all available Chains.

Search Oasis

STEP 3: Click on “Connect Wallet”

The search results will show all available networks related to your network of choice.

Below your chosen network, you’ll see its ChainID, Currency, and a “Connect Wallet” button. Click on “Connect Wallet.”

Select Oasis Emerald

STEP 4: Unlock your Metamask Wallet

The next step is to unlock your Metamask wallet browser extension and connect the account you would like to use.

Unlock Metamask Wallet

STEP 5: Approve & Switch Network

Next, allow this site to add a network. Click on “Approve” to add your network of choice (E.g., Oasis Emerald ParaTime Mainnet) to Metamask.

Select Oasis Emerald

Finally, switch your default network to your network of choice. You are DONE!

How to Add a Network using TokenMagic

TokenMagic helps users connect to Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible networks automatically. You just need to connect your wallet and approve the network or token. It also verifies the accuracy of the information and custom RPC points.

To use TokenMagic Website follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Go to TokenMagic Website

The first thing we need to do is go to the TokenMagic official website. Before connecting to any site ensure that the URL is correct.

STEP 2: Connect to a Wallet

In the upper right corner, there is a red button that says “Connect to a Wallet.” Hit that button (don’t break your keyboard) and select MetaMask from the list of wallets

Connect to a Wallet

STEP 3: Unlock your Metamask Wallet

The next step is to unlock your Metamask wallet browser extension and select the account you want to use (tick the account button). Then, click on [Next] and [Connect]

Unlock Metamask Wallet

STEP 4: Click on “Connect Wallet”

After the connection with the TokenMagic app has been established and all application configurations are in place, it is time to add your network of choice (E.g., Velas, Binance Smart Chain, etc).

To Add any Network just click [Connect Wallet] under the network name. Ensure you are on Chains tab instead of Tokens, Mint, or Airdrop.

Add Velas

STEP 5: Approve Network & Switch Network

Next, allow this site to add a network. Click on “Approve” to add your Network on Metamask.

Approve Velas Network

Finally, switch your default network (E.g., Ethereum Mainnet) to your network of choice (Mainnet). Now you can see your new Network under the networks section.

2. Conclusion

Automatically adding networks to Metamask is the fastest and easiest way to add blockchain networks to your wallet.

We have seen two ways to add a Network to Metamask automatically: Via ChainList and TokenMagic

ChainList is my application of choice. Here’s a quick 5-Step Reminder:

  • Step 1: Go to ChainList.org
  • Step 2: Search for “Network”
  • Step 3: Select Network and Click on “Connect Wallet”
  • Step 4: Unlock your Metamask Wallet & Connect your Account
  • Step 5: Approve & Switch Network

3. FAQs

How do I bridge between MetaMask Networks?

To bridge between networks in MetaMask you will need a bridge like cBridge or AnySwap. In general, here is how it works:

  • Look for a Bridge Solution that supports the networks and tokens you wish to transfer.
  • Connect your Metamask Wallet
  • Select the Origin and Destination Networks
  • Select the Token you want to transfer.
  • Initiate the Bridging Process
  • Wait for confirmation.

To change the default network in Metamask, click the Network Dropdown box (where it says the network name) and select a network from the list.

Unfortunately, Metamask does not have an inbuilt bridge that allows you to swap tokens between networks. You will need to use a bridge services provider like cBridge or AnySwap.
