1. What is Songbird?

Songbird is a canary network that enables developers to test decentralized applications before deploying them to the Flare Network. Contrary to a Testnet, a canary network like Songbird has real value, a real ecosystem, and a real native coin called Songbird.

Songbird uses innovative technology (an agent and an originator) to bridge incompatible tokens without a centralized pool of reserves. For example, if you want to transfer XRP to Songbird, you don’t need to wrap it; instead, you send it to an agent, who locks up SGB as collateral and issues an XRP equivalent (FXRP) in return.

To ensure the agent always receives a swap of equal value, Songbird leverages the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO). A decentralized tool that collects information from signal providers, who are accountable for providing reliable off-chain data for execution on-chain.

2. How to Add Songbird Network in 5 Steps

The Songbird network (like Flare) is an Ethereum-compatible network focused on cross-chain compatibility between blockchains. As a result, tokens like Songbird can be easily added to Metamask.

Before You start:

  • Ensure you have a computer or mobile device with an internet connection
  • Ensure you have a web3 crypto wallet like Metamask installed on your browser or mobile device (iOS and Android).
Note: To enjoy Songbird Network, you must have a web3 wallet like Metamask. Metamask is a leading Web3 wallet that lets users to connect with decentralized apps (dApps) on the Ethereum Blockchain. It's both a browser extension and a mobile app (iOS and Android). You can download it on their official website

Here is my 5 DETAILED Step Process:

Step 1: Unlock your Metamask Wallet

The first step is to unlock your Metamask wallet extension or mobile Android/iOS device. Click the Metamask browser extension (or mobile app) and enter your secure password in the box.

The final step is to input the RPC custom details. RPC (remote procedure call) is a URL that allows you to connect to a server node (for example, the Songbird server) and interact with that Blockchain.

Note: On mobile devices switch to custom networks and fill up the RPC Songbird network Details. Then, click “Add.”

Fill in:

Songbird Network

Adding Songbird Explorer is optional, but it is always a good idea to fill out all of the information and know where to verify all Songbird blockchain transactions.

After you input all the details, just click “Save” on the dialog box, and Voilá!, your default network (E.g., Ethereum Mainnet) will be switched automatically to the Songbird Canary-Network.

Now you are ready to interact with the Sonbgird Blockchain Platform!

Note: Alternatively, you can add Songbird Network to metamask automatically by connecting your wallet on ChainList, and adding Songbird Canary-Network.
